BRIDGE CLUB Embellisher demonstration and plans for Green Week

Image

At BRIDGE Club this week Toni Hicks demonstrated the Embellisher machine, that works by using a set of 9-12  hooked needles, to mesh together layers of scrap material, creating a felting effect. It will be a really useful tool for experimentation with a variety of waste materials. Some of the students were also experimenting with knitting plastic bags that can then be heated to create footwear such as flip flops. Dr Joan Farrer welcomed new members of the group from 3D Design. Elona Hoover from the university Sustainable Development Co-ordination Unit came to introduce plans for Green Week 4-10th March, an opportunity for students and staff to celebrate sustainability projects and raise awareness of current initiatives. This will be an opportunity to showcase the BRIDGE Club during Green Week : Follow link for more information or email Elona : E.Hoover@brighton.ac.uk
