BRIDGE CLUB : What is sustainable? Durability

knife jasper morrisonStefano discussed the notion of emotional durability proposed by Professor Jonathan Chapman. Can you design into objects a desire to keep them for longer, and remove the need to constantly update and replace them? He brought a Jasper Morrison knife. The material, stainless steel is durable, it is  functional, used everyday, of classic design so potentially will be kept for a lifetime and can be handed on to future generations.
